Met_Enkeph?
So what's with the pseudonym Met_Enkeph?
Back in the early 80's during the days of the BBS, it was pretty common practice to come up with a cool sounding handle for use on the board. In 1984 I read the book 'The Miko' by Eric Van Lustbader and that became my nick. During the mid 90s, I started to run into a lot of other 'Miko's when playing Quake. I also came across the real meaning of the word.
So it was time for a new nick.
I'd started chiro school, so something vaugely medical sounding... I came up with Dynorphin one of the endorphins, or natural pain killing chemicals. That lasted about a week, as there was another Dynorphin on irc.
Then I came across met-Enkephalin, one of the short-lived, fast acting enodrphin molocules. So it was met_enkeph. I generally use the underscore (ASCII 95), but the 2600 article used the dash...
The earliest mention I can still find online is my 'class of' page for Seti from '99.
