SNES Pads - Software Install on Windows
For the install on Windows, I highly recommend using Psxpad
There are a bunch of different software drivers available for getting these guys running under window including:
- PsxPad - the one I've had the most luck with. The homepage is currently parked, so check Google for downloads. Bummer.
- DirectPad - try the mirror of the old ZipLabel site or Aldo's.
- PPJoy - available here. Not maintained any longer.
- NT Pad - available at it's homepage
As mentioned, I've had great luck with PsxPad.
When my son's machine had window 2000 installed DirectPad was happy to run, but no such luck under XP.
PsxPad runs like a champ.
The install is straight forward.
Run the setup.exe from the PsxPad download.
You may need the I/O address of your parallel port.
Open the COntrol Panel.
In the new Category view look for 'Printers and Other Hadrware.
In the top left box, click 'System'.
In the Classic view of the Control Panel, just hit the System icon.
Next, select the 'Hardware' tab and click the 'Device manager' button.
Look for 'Ports (COM & LPT).
Expand this by clicking on the + box, then right click on the LPT port and select'Properties'.
The I/O Port info is under the Resources Tab.
You want the first number of the first I/O range, usually 0378.
After the driver install is completed, head to the 'Game Controllers' Control panel applet (start - Run 'joy.cpl') and start testing
