Stealth Drives - Drive cover mod
Before we start to disassemble the drive, we'll chop the drive bay cover to size. Since these are usually intended to snap into place we'll need to remove pretty much everything but the very front of the plastic. We want to leave enough so it looks like a normal cover when in place, but not stop the drive from ejecting.
The drive cover before cutting.
Note the sides and the snap piece.
Everything but the very front must go!
The cut coverr compared to an unmodified one.
While cutting the sides down, keep checking it in the drive bay to see how it looks.
Once it slides into place without smashing the sides, you're done.
Next, I used some tape to loosely hold the cover in place. Later, this will help us line up the velco correctly.
